Special Care Passengers.
  • Expectant Mothers.
Expectant mothers between 29 to 36 weeks pregnant‚ must present a doctor’s note issued within 48 hours of your departure flight in order to fly. If you are more than 38 weeks along‚ you will not be able to fly with us.
CONDITION REQUIREMENT
1. Uncomplicated Single or Multiple Pregnancy – 27 weeks and earlier No assessment certificate is required. However, an assessment certificate from your doctor must be presented for your return flight if it is scheduled beyond the 28th week of your pregnancy
2. Uncomplicated Single (28 to 35 weeks) or Uncomplicated Multiple pregnancy (28 to 32 weeks) Letter from the doctor required declaring the passenger fit to travel by air. Passenger shall be required to fill I-Fly Air Medical Declaration form.
3. Complicated pregnancy – 0 to 35 weeks Doctor’s approval required declaring the passenger fit to travel by air. Passenger shall be required to fill I-Fly Air Medical Declaration form.
4 Miscarriage with active bleeding (Threatened or complete) –   0 to 36 weeks Doctor’s   approval   certificate   required   declaring   the passenger fit to travel.by air Passenger shall be required to fill I-Fly Air Medical Declaration form.
5 Complicated or Uncomplicated pregnancy at 36 weeks No acceptance for air travel
6. New Mothers –Within 7 days after birth. Doctor’s   approval   certificate   required   declaring   the passenger fit to travel.by air Passenger shall be required to fill I-Fly Air Medical Declaration form.  
  • Unaccompanied Minors.
Who is an unaccompanied minor (UMNR)? An unaccompanied minor is a child from 5 up to and including 14 years of age.  Children younger than 5 will not be accepted to travel unaccompanied; the airline does not provide escort service. The child must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or a person who has a minimum age of 18yrs at both airport of departure and arrival. Conditions of Unaccompanied Minor acceptance:
  • Advance reservations must be made at least 24 hours before departure.
  • Unaccompanied Minors will be accepted on I-FLY AIR itineraries provided that prior to travel the Unaccompanied Minor request has been confirmed by the airline concerned.
Restrictions of Unaccompanied Minor acceptance: Restrictive rules may apply for travel involving certain itineraries or itineraries that include other airlines. The following restrictive rules apply:
  • No Unaccompanied Minor under 5 years
  • No overnight stopover/connection
  • No Unaccompanied Minor will be accepted if itinerary involves a connecting flight. 
  • No change of airport allowed. 
The responsible adult should present the child at check-in and complete the  Unaccompanied Minor Form prior to the flight and to remain with the child for as long as possible before proceeding to boarding. The responsible adult shall be requested to remain at the airport until the aircraft is airborne.
  • Reduced Mobility.
Special assistance is available to passengers who may need help to travel such as the elderly‚ those people with a physical disability‚ such as wheelchair users‚ and those who have difficulty with social interaction and communication‚ such as those with autism. Passengers who want special assistance should aim to give I-Fly Air 24 hours’ notice of the help they require. Passengers can request for assistance when making a reservation. Upon arrival at the Check-In counter‚ simply notify our staff that you require assistance. To allow I-Fly Air to provide you with the best possible service‚ we ask that you allow sufficient time for check-in and boarding. It is best that you arrive at the Check-In counter at least 90 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Travelling with own wheelchair or mobility aid If you are travelling with your own mobility equipment (including wheelchair‚ crutches‚ walkers or other mobility aids) you will be able to bring them free of charge in addition to the standard baggage allowance. Space permitting‚ mobility aids that meet the size and weight restriction for the approved cabin storage space can be brought on board. Walking canes or crutches must be stowed under your seat prior to takeoff and landing. Canes or crutches must lie flat on the floor and should not block emergency exits or protrude into the aisle. When travelling with your own wheelchair‚ whether battery-powered or manual‚ please note:  
  • The dimensions of your personal mobility device including height‚ width‚ and length
  • The weight of your wheelchair or scooter
  • The battery type (if applicable)
Manual Wheelchairs You may check your folding or manual wheelchair either at Check-In or at the gate and use a service wheelchair for travel within the airport. If you choose to drop off your wheelchair at Check-In‚ you will be provided with a service wheelchair and assisted to the departure gate by one of our staff. If you would prefer to use your personal wheelchair within the airport‚ you can arrange to have it checked at the departure gate. Your wheelchair will be returned to you at your destination gate. Battery Operated Wheelchairs In the event that we need to prepare your battery-operated wheelchair or scooter for stowage‚ it will need to be checked at the airport counter. Our staff will assist you to the departure gate with a service wheelchair. Some disassembly of your wheelchair may be required. This may include disconnection and connection of the battery in accordance with Dangerous Goods requirements. If disassembly of the wheelchair is required‚ you will need to be present during the disassembly and reassembly of the device. We recommend that you bring the manufacturer’s assembly/disassembly instructions with you to the airport and attach them‚ along with wheelchair’s specific battery type‚ to the wheelchair. We also recommend that you take the detachable items‚ such as seat cushions and footrests with you on board the aircraft. If you have dropped off your battery-operated wheelchair or scooter at Check-in‚ it will be returned to you at Baggage Claim upon arrival at your final destination. Important battery information
  1. Spillable batteries (Wet cell/acid)
We do not transport wet cell batteries‚ or any battery that is damaged or leaking.
  1. Non-spillable batteries (Dry cell/gel)
Passengers may bring wheelchairs or other battery-powered mobility aids with dry cell or gel‚ non-spillable batteries‚ as checked baggage when:
  1. Lithium-ion batteries
If the wheelchair or mobility aid contains a lithium battery (or batteries) that is securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid the battery may remain installed in the wheelchair. The wheelchair or mobility aid may then be carried as checked baggage provided:
  1. The battery terminals are protected from short circuits
  2. The battery is securely attached to the wheelchair or mobility aid
Where a lithium-ion battery-powered mobility aid is specifically designed to allow its battery (or batteries) to be removed by the user (e.g. collapsible): The battery must be removed. The wheelchair/ mobility aid may then be carried as checked baggage without restriction. The battery must be protected from short circuit by insulating the terminals (e.g. by taping over exposed terminals). The removed battery must be protected from damage (e.g. by placing each battery in a protective pouch). The battery must be carried in the passenger cabin. Removal of the battery from the device must be performed by following the instructions of the manufacturer or device owner. The battery must not exceed 300 Wh‚ or for a device that is fitted with two batteries required for operation‚ each battery must not exceed 160 Wh. A maximum of one spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spares each not exceeding 160 Wh may be carried.
  • Medical Assistance.
If you have a pre-existing medical condition, we advise you visit your doctor before you fly, so that we can know how to best serve you. You require a medical clearance to fly if you:
  • Recently had a major medical incident (heart attack, heart failure, stroke and respiratory failure or recent pneumothorax etc).
  • Had surgery within the previous two weeks
  • One has a pre-existing heart or respiratory condition
  • Have a medical condition which may be adversely affected by flying
  • Have thrombophlebitis or history of pulmonary embolism
  • Have unstable mental illness/impairment
  • Have a medical condition that is a potential hazard to the health and safety of other guests or punctuality of the flight
  • You are unable to care for yourself hence needs special assistance
  • If you cannot use a normal upright seat e.g a stretcher or medical condition that necessitates extra legroom
  • Need in-flight oxygen, a portable oxygen concentrator or ventilator
  • Need battery-powered* medical equipment or a medical procedure during the flight
If you have any of the above or other medical conditions, download and complete the MEDIF (Medical Declaration Form for Fitness to Fly) at least 24 hours before travel or contact our 24 hour Contact Centre Tel: +254 740 100 100 or +254 111 051 990 for assistance. Once cleared, we shall provide you with a Passenger Medical Clearance form (PMC) stating the conditions of clearance. You will be required to carry this form throughout your travel. Kindly Note;
  • The MEDIF and any other medical report MUST be filled in English. It is valid for 7 days from the date of issue.
  • The MEDIF MUST be completed fully including the passenger declaration part. It MUST be signed, stamped and dated clearly. Failure to fill it will lead to a delay in the clearance process.
  • You will need a new MEDIF form for clearance on your return trip
  • Notify reservations@ifly.co.ke  immediately of any change in your condition before your flight; If your condition changes significantly, you may be asked to obtain another MEDIF form to confirm that you are fit to fly
  • You are required to do prior arrangement for any ground support services before and after your flight except as provided by applicable law. This includes connecting points and onward flights e.g. ambulance, oxygen, hospital and pre-hospital ambulance services. I-Fly Air does NOT facilitate this service.
***All equipment that may be required in-flight MUST be approved by the Operations/Engineering department at least 48 hours before the flight.
